I’m writing to express my gratitude to one of your agents for her professional and human touch in regards to our buying our first home in Brenham
Also her kind, but honest advice on selling our late father’s home in La Grange.
My dad had passed away suddenly in his home and because the situation was so upsetting, I decided I wanted to sell the house he had in died as soon as possible. My dad had left me a decent inheritance including his house. So my husband and I had decided to take the plunge and buy our first home. We were drawn to the more historic and lovely homes of Brenham, and our new realtor, Hannah Smith, was happy to show them to us.
She asked about where we lived now and when I told her we’d been renting the same apartment for the past 15 years, she tactfully suggested we buy new. She pointed out that older homes need a lot of work and that it would be a project we were not used to since, in an apartment, everything is new or maintained.
She showed us the StyleCraft development in Brenham and was more than willing to learn about these new homes with us. She explained the value of a home like this, how this was a wise investment and how Brenham is changing economically. How buying into a home in this type of development would mean a greater return on our investment.
She even pulled her car over and whipped out her calculator when I expressed concerns over affording a home like this. Showing us what the principle would be and what we could expect in taxes.
Whenever there was a hiccup in the planning, Hannah Smith acted like our own personal bulldog. She never made us look or feel like we were demanding customers because she was willing to be demanding for us.
We decided to buy a home from StyleCraft that had been constructed and was almost completed because the cost was lower and the move in date closer.
Hannah Smith has been with us every step of the way as a part of her learning experience with this company.
She never flooded my phone with texts or calls. She aways respected my work time and wanted to know when was the best time to meet in person.
My dad’s house was not in great shape and I was embarrassed by it. He was disabled in the last few years of his life. Sadly, his home had fallen into disrepair. His home is a beautiful historic home but because of his disability, he hadn’t kept repairs up.
Hannah gave me and my sister very practical advice, showed us comps in the area and gave us realistic options to get it sold.
She never ever promised more than she could deliver and her suggestions were very good and made me more confident about selling dad’s house.
In the end, we decided not to sell. We elected to make repairs and rent out the property until the market in La Grange improves.
Hannah was totally understanding, even if that meant she would lose a sale. She told me more than once I have to do what is best for me.
I have had a very positive experience with your realtor and hope to work with her again when and if we decide to sell my dad’s house in La Grange.
As for our new house, I can’t wait to have our “bulldog” come with us through the final walk through of the house to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. We joked that we are both looking forward to that.
Thank you Leah Smith
